Looking for more Spatial Audio content on Apple Music? Apple's got you covered.
On Friday, the company launched Apple Music Sessions, featuring exclusive live performances from a variety of artists including Carrie Underwood and Tenille Townes, who are kicking off the series.
Their performances have been recorded in Apple Music's own studios in Nashville, Tennessee, and that means fancy sound. In particular, these recordings are available in Apple's Lossless, high-res quality and in Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos, which you'll be able to hear properly if you have hardware that supports the format.
Apple says more artists are coming, with Ronnie Dunn and Ingrid Andress already lined up. And if you're not a fan of country music, don't worry, Apple plans to venture into other genres in the future.
If all of this sounds familiar, that's because it's basically Apple's take on Spotify Sessions, which are live performances exclusive to Spotify. The big differentiator here is audio quality; Spotify HiFi, which was supposed to launch by the end of 2021, still isn't available, so Apple can brag that its exclusive live recordings are more audiophile-friendly.
