While the season's presence obviously isn't a fix for the numerous, severe challenges the United States currently faces, it's a solid distraction from the chaos and a small joy that we all desperately need right now.

Autumn — in all its flannel shirt, sweater weather, foliage-changing, pumpkin spice glory — is a perfect form of escapism from the hell that is 2020. The seasons hit different during a pandemic, and if you're one of the many people suffering from boredoom, then embracing fall movies, fall festivities, and fall fashions might be just the pick-me-up you need. The OC star Mischa Barton perfectly articulated the 2020 fall mood in a Monday night Instagram Story. After using a cozy filter to take a calm selfie, Barton posted it alongside the semi-apathetic words, "I'm actually really excited it's fall. If it even matters anymore."

Same, girl. Same.

It's important to have at least one good thing to cling to in these absolutely odious times, and it seems fall is it.
